Hope For A Hero Home

A Note from the Davis Family

My family and I would like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and prayers. The benefit was a huge success and really touched our hearts. Thank you to all those involved in making it such a special night.

We are also so thankful for the many donations made by the community. I am very proud to be a member of the CFD and not only the CFD but the entire brotherhood of firefighters. So many of the other local firefighters have also shown their support.

I would like to thank the media for the positive stories on Tv and the paper. I know in some of the guestbook posts, some people had suggestions and questions. Please feel free to email me at jamesdavis5100@gmail.com.

Thanks to all!

The Davis family

Jim's Story

Jim Davis has been a firefighter with the Cincinnati Fire Department since 1998. He has served the community working out of the 24’s, a busy westside firehouse in Price Hill. His fellow firefighters would describe him as brave and reliable, a Hero never backing down at the scene of an emergency, a firefighter you could count on.

But Jim has been suffering from chronic respiratory failure, a disease that has left him severely disabled.

We are asking for help in giving Jim and his family Hope. Jim’s illness has no cure. His diaphragm is paralyzed which has left him on oxygen and without the ability to ever lie flat again. The strain on his body has also damaged his heart and continues to cause other major health concerns. With all of these health issues, Jim has been left with no choice but to leave the job he has loved for twelve years and go on disability, “early retirement”. Disabled is a word his fellow firefighters never thought they would use to describe him, it’s a word that even Jim will not use to describe himself. That is why at the age of only 35 he chooses to use the words “early retirement”. Call it what you want, this illness has left Jim, his incredibly strong wife Vanessa, and two beautiful daughters Cassidy 14, and Brooke 9 in need of help and Hope.

Hope for a better tomorrow.

We are asking the community to give back to a Hero, someone who dedicated his life to the community through his career as a firefighter. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Monetary donations can be made at any 5/3 Banking location payable to Hope for a Hero.

Thanks for giving Hope!
